What is Credit Recovery (Florida)

A Credit Recovery course is a credit‐bearing course with the same content standards as the original course the student failed (or from which the student needs grade forgiveness). FLDOE Info

Credit Recovery courses are used for credit recovery, remediation, grade forgiveness, or to prepare for a retake of the End-of-Course (EOC) assessment. FLDOE Info
Grade Forgiveness & Transcript Reporting

The original grade typically remains on the transcript, but the higher grade earned through recovery is used in calculating the student’s cumulative GPA. Lolhs+1

Credit Recovery courses are coded specially (“CR” or “Credit Recovery”) in the Course Code Directory (CCD) to distinguish them. FLDOE Info+1
Eligible Courses & Content Alignment

Credit Recovery is available for core academic subjects (English, Math, Science, Social Studies) that have corresponding codes and standards. FLDOE Info+1

The content requirements for the recovery course are identical to those of the original course (for example, Algebra I and “Algebra I Credit Recovery” have the same content standards). FLDOE Info

GED Program Requirements in Florida
Age / High School Status
You must be 18 years old, or if you are 16 or 17, you must submit a formal declaration of intent to terminate school enrollment under Florida Statute §1003.21(1)(c). Also, a signed & notarized underage testing form and proof of withdrawal from an accredited K-12 school are required. GED - Other Countries+2Florida Department of Education+2

Identification
You need a valid, non-expired government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license, state or national ID card, passport) that shows your name, date of birth, signature, and photo. Lake Technical College+2Passged+2
Testing Subject Areas
GED consists of four subtests:
• Reasoning Through Language Arts
• Mathematical Reasoning
• Science

Scores Needed
A score of 145 (minimum) is required on each subtest. Default+2Passged+2
Test Format & Location
Tests must be taken in person at an approved GED testing center in Florida. (Online/remote proctored testing is suspended in Florida.) Florida Department of Education+2GED - Other Countries+2
You can take one subject at a time or multiple subject areas when you’re ready. Default+2Passged+2
Underage (16-17) Testing
Students aged 16-17 must:
• Be withdrawn from high school
• File a formal declaration of intent to leave high school
• Submit the underage testing form (signed by parent/guardian + notarized)
• Provide proof of withdrawal

Cost
The cost of GED subject tests is approx $38 per subject (or ~$152 for all four) in many Florida testing centers. Fees may vary by location. Passged+2Onsego+2

Diploma Issuance
Upon passing all four subtests, you receive a State of Florida High School Equivalency Diploma.
